Salzburg, the City of Mozart

On our Austria-trip, after Hallstatt, we headed to Salzburg, the wonderful city of Mozart and The Sound of Music.

Salzburg is an amazing city, near the German border, surrounded by amazing mountains.
It feels great to just wander around town, see wonderful buildings and sculptures, both old and new.

We started our walk at the Mirabell Palace and Garden, where The Sound of Music was filmed. The garden was fabulous!! There were lots of flowers and plants, all of a vibrant colour, and from there one had a really nice view of the castle.

After that, we headed to the Old Town, so we crossed a bridge full of love locks and cute ribbons with names written on them. We weren't a couple to waste this opportunity! :)

We explored the little streets, breathtaking churches, the Saturday market, Mozart's birthhouse, and amazing squares. I'm not a huge fan of churches overdecorated, so I absolutely fell in love with the one below!

Of course, we bought Mozartkugel as well, thought it's not gluten-free, unfortunately.

At the end of the day, we also visited the Festung Hohensalzburg, a 11th-century fortress on top of a huge hill, from where the view was just picturesque! We spent literally hours admiring the panorama.

Have you been to the city of Mozart? How did you like it?
